Member Update

Francis Owens, 56, passed away on August 13. He worked in community and economic development for most of his professional career in the Missouri cities of Clinton, Sedalia, Blue Springs and St. Joseph. He also worked for the Texas cities of Forney and San Angelo.

Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce (Mo.) Vice President of Business Development Ryan Mooney has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Economic Development. Also at the chamber, Rob Dixon has been named Manager of Business Development. Dixon most recently served as the Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of Hollister (Calif.).

Jason Hester has been named the new Executive Director of the Columbus Economic Development Board (Ind.), succeeding Corey Carr. For the last three years, Hester led business recruitment and expansion efforts as the Central Region Director for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

Deborah Knutson, who has led the Economic Development Council of Snohomish County (Wash.) for a dozen years, will step down Oct. 31.

James N. Hizer, CEcD, former President and CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce (Ky.) and the Intermodal Transportation Authority, resigned to take the job of President and CEO at the Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce (Fla.).

Nadine Boon, the City of St. Charles (Mo.) Economic Development Director since 1994, has resigned to join a private company.
